The art of watching

“A guy a day” said Kerry, sitting on her massage rocking chair in her apartment in NY. “What an awesome idea” we replied in unison. It’s not what you are probably thinking. It was a simple (or so we thought) task. We were to take pictures to the cutest guy we saw everyday in our worldwide travels and share it with our friends through Facebook or our site. We had no problems encountering beautiful things along our travels: faces, bodies, clothing, landscapes, paintings, art, buildings, bridges, animals, traditions, the sky... and, of course, men.
First day in London, we started our “watching” journey at the Tate Modern Museum. We were fascinated by the art but also the people at the museum admiring the art. In today’s world where everything is computerized, it’s surprising to still see so many people at museums. Then again, even if we can find all kind of information online there’s something unique and precious about experimenting reality in front of you... Almost being able to smell the art, imagining being in the paintings, imagining being the artist or the muse... seeing other people enjoying art. The interaction with the paintings, sculptures and all these wonderful pieces, kind of feels like another form of art: the art of watching. Anyhow, so our day continued at Soho where we had a parade of people to look at. Very colourful neighbourhood.
We ended the night at the Victoria Theatre seeing Billy Elliot, which was also great fun to watch. On our way back, we jumped into the tube and headed back to the hotel to go to our second host, Flor’s cousins. We admired the entire city, architects, art, all we could see.

Now you might wonder, what happened with the task? Where are the pictures of the cute guys? As said before “easier said than done”. How can I know this is the most handsome guy I’ll see today? We would need to be taking pictures all day, and not only that but having the camera ready for those cuties that appear out of nowhere and disappear in a second! Needless to say we discover snapping pictures from a distance is not that easy and that we would rather enjoy watching them for those 2 seconds... sorry girls, we’ll be selfish and keep them to ourselves. So not “everyday” but we’ll snap here and there when possible... here are a few of the paparazzi pics of the cute guys we saw.
